The aim of the course is to provide theoretical and practical training in modern NLP methods for research in the social sciences (Economics, Management, Sociology, etc.). It is intended for master's students who are considering pursuing a doctorate, or students in the process of completing their thesis who wish adopt these rapidly developing methods.
- Monday;
Session 1 : Tokenization and word and text annotations;
Session 2 : Semantic spaces and co-occurence analysis;
-Tuesday;
Session 3 : Topic modeling from LDA to STM;
Session 4 : Embeddings : word2vec and doc2vec;
- Wednesday;
Session 5 : ML for text;
Session 6 : hackathon presentation (with a large TV ads script corpus);

- Thursday;
Session 7, 8 : hackathon ;
Friday ;
Session 9 : hackathon ;

Session 10 : students presentations;
The lecture will be delivery principally in r, but the parallel procedures with python will be also studied. All materials (script, data and references) will be available at ;

To validate the lecture, presentation of the hackathon work is mandatory.

 
A minimal knowledge of r/python is strongly advise.
